The TEF Canada is a French test designed for individuals planning to immigrate to Canada or apply for Canadian citizenship.
It officially certifies your level of French with the Canadian authorities.
Recognized by the Canadian IRCC, the TEF Canada is required for many economic immigration programs as well as for citizenship applications.
The Alliance Française Brussels-Europe is an accredited center for the administration and taking of the TEF Canada.
Validity period: 2 years.
The candidate will be photographed on the day of the exam.
Notification
Oral exams will take place in the afternoon, on the same day as the written exams. The dates listed on the AFBE website and on the registration form correspond to the group sessions.
You will receive your official notification by email no later than 5 days before the start date of the written exams.
Administrative Conditions
If you wish to take your individual exam at a specific time, please send an email to examens@alliancefr.be before the registration deadline. We will consider your request as far as possible. After the registration period, no special requests will be accepted.
The TEF Canada is intended for anyone who wishes to:
- Submit an immigration application to Canada
- Obtain Canadian citizenship
- Officially certify their level of French for administrative purposes

- Reading Comprehension (Multiple Choice – 1 hour – 40 questions)
- Listening Comprehension (Multiple Choice – 40 minutes – 40 questions)
- Written Expression (1 hour)
- Oral Expression (15 minutes)
Canadian Citizenship Application: 2 Mandatory Tests
- Listening Comprehension (Multiple Choice – 40 minutes – 40 questions)
- Oral Expression (15 minutes)
