In some words...
From Tintin, Blake & Mortimer and Bob Morane to the most recent comics, many comic strip authors have confronted their characters with an international environment. Our comics are keenly interested in the outside world, in the customs of other countries, but also in wars and ideologies.
Honorary Belgian ambassador, member of the Académie Royale de Belgique, doctor in political science, visiting professor at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Nruve and University of Montréal and author of several books on diplomacy, Raoul Delcorde will host a conference combining comics and international relations at the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe.
The presentation, supported by reproductions of comic strips, will illustrate this link between comics and international issues. It's a little-studied subject that allows us to analyze the world of comics through the prism of contemporary history or a transposition into a moment in history. It allows us to analyze how comic book characters see the world. It illustrates the worldwide influence of French-language comics.
