Every Thursday evening until 23 May, the ‘Brussels Museums Nocturnes’ continue! Museums in the Brussels region are open from 6pm to 10pm. It’s a new way of going to the museum with exclusive tours. For a list of participating museums: Brussels Museums Nocturnes | City of Brussels.

 

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May, the month of May gets off to a great start with a not-to-be-missed event, the Iris Festival.

Throughout the weekend, guided tours are organised to discover the secrets of the city. The party will be in full swing on Saturday evening with Iris Tipik Electro Night all over the Place du Palais!

On Sunday, the Brussels Parliament will be opening its doors, and street art activities in the Parc de Bruxelles will round off the weekend celebrating 35 years of the Brussels Capital Region! More info: Iris Festival | Visit Brussels

Thursday 9 May is Europe Day, and between 9am and 6pm you can discover the European institutions through fun activities and artistic performances. It’s free and there’s no need to register. This year, the Belgian Presidency of the Council is giving an even greater significance to this event. Discover the Europe Day 2024 programme of the European Parliament (europa.eu)

 

As part of EXTRA, the French Embassy in Belgium and the Institut français de Paris are supporting the Kunsten Festival des Arts, which runs from 10 May to 1 June. Discover dance, theatre, cooking workshops and visual arts! The programme is very varied and the artists come from all over the world. Brussels Pride will make the city sparkle with the colours of the rainbow on Saturday 18 May 2024. In the run-up to the event, from 8 to 17 May, you can attend conferences, debates and activities focusing on themes close to the community’s heart. More information: Home (brusselspride.eu)

 

Brussels Jazz Weekend, the last weekend in May, from 24 to 26. The city is transformed into a giant festival, with 125 concerts and 400 national and international artists expected to perform. There will be various venues in cafés, bars and clubs, as well as larger stages on the Grand Place, Place Ste Catherine, Sablon and Place Fernand Cocq. At the Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe

Finally, to round off the May programme, breakdance will be in the spotlight at the Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe! This year it will be a new discipline at the Olympic Games in Paris.

With this in mind, a special event will be held at La Fabrique on Thursday 30 May and Friday 31 May, at 8.45pm. Featuring 4 breakdancers… including Lilou, a double world champion, and Madmax, a runner-up world champion!
